Add a GDPR, ePrivacy and CCPA compliant cookie consent banner to your Weebly site. CookieChimp installs from Weebly’s SEO Header Code settings — no theme edits required.
Header Code is available on Weebly’s paid plans. The free plan does not allow third-party script injection.

Copy your CookieChimp snippet

Log in to your CookieChimp dashboard and copy your website's JS snippet:
<script src="https://cookiechimp.com/widget/abc123.js"></script>
Replace abc123 with your website's unique CookieChimp ID.

Add the snippet to your Weebly site

  1. Sign in to your Weebly editor.
  2. Open the Settings tab at the top.
  3. Click SEO in the left sidebar.
  4. Scroll to the Header Code field.
  5. Paste the CookieChimp snippet there. Header Code is injected globally into <head>.
  6. Click Save, then Publish your site.
The CookieChimp script needs to be the first script in the <head> section so it can block other scripts before they run and set cookies without consent. If other scripts are added before, they may set cookies and other storage items before consent is granted.

Block scripts & cookies

To stay compliant with GDPR and other privacy regulations, you need to actively block non-essential scripts and cookies until the user gives consent. See our Scripts Management Section for full details.
If you’ve added Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel or other trackers through Weebly’s Embed Code element or directly in SEO → Header Code, update those tags to use type="text/plain" and a data-category attribute so CookieChimp can manage them based on consent.

Allow users to update their preferences

CookieChimp provides a floating privacy icon (Privacy Trigger) that lets users manage cookie preferences at any time. Enable it in the banner settings.To open the preferences modal from a custom button or link, add the data attribute data-cc="show-preferencesModal":

To add a “Cookie preferences” link to your footer, drag in an Embed Code element and use the data-cc="show-preferencesModal" attribute on a button or link.

Troubleshooting

  • Banner doesn’t appear — make sure your Weebly domain (both the *.weebly.com URL and any custom domain) is allowed in Account Settings → Additional Domains in your CookieChimp dashboard.
  • “Header Code” field is missing — you’re on a free Weebly plan. Upgrade to a paid plan to unlock custom code.
  • Changes don’t appear on the live site — Weebly only updates the live site after you click Publish. The editor preview uses cached state.
  • Enable Debug mode from the CookieChimp dashboard and check the browser JS console for errors.

Yes. Adding scripts to <head> requires Weebly’s paid plans (Personal, Professional or Performance). The free plan blocks third-party code.
Yes. The same Header Code setup works on Weebly’s eCommerce stores. CookieChimp will appear on storefront and checkout pages.
No. The CookieChimp script is under 30KB gzipped, loads asynchronously and is served from a global CDN. It doesn't block rendering and won't meaningfully affect your Lighthouse scores.
